People in nursing homes are particularly vulnerable, both physically and socially. Their friends and families were barred from in-person visits weeks before restrictions on the general population (“lockdown”).
After reading an article about how receiving cards makes a difference to residents’ wellbeing, and verifying that it’s safe to send postal mail to vulnerable populations, I coordinated with Nursing Homes Ireland to send postcards to residents of nursing homes.
At the beginning of April I started sending postcards…and I’ll help you send one too.
- Pick a format: electronic (PDF) or paper (delivered by An Post)
- Write your message (or have me find a poem)
- Choose a photo
- Select a nursing home
- Decide if you’d like to be tagged on social media or notified via email when the postcard has been sent
- Click “Submit”
